We all may have heard of the simpleton yet socially advanced appearing existence of the native Americans.
It was said that we had a few hundred tribes thriving in the ancient American civilization.
I had come across the 10 Indian commandments and found it wonderfully elaborate with deeper truths of wisdom which resonated with me.
In this blog we will quickly go through these 10 deeper truths, and discuss how we can optimally relate to it and practice it in our daily living, if you choose.
We begin with “Remain close to the great spirit.”
Originally religious doctrines and dogmas had been created for the steadfast purpose of having a greater relationship with GOD.
Being close to GOD or having a deeper connection with the GREAT SPIRIT. Being connected to the ALL that is. Such a relationship provides a sense that we all are at home with the ALL.
Often as we boggle with daily living, we all tend to assume that there is no reason to life. No real definite truth or no higher purpose and in confusion we tend to lose that closeness with the ALL.
As children we all truly are, just living and experiencing. As we age, we tend to forget our personal universal heritage.
One of the grander truths, “the innocence of a child”. This sense of innocence depicts that we are truly open to learn and experience life for the truest truths, no matter what it may bring. Also, it gives allowance that we don’t know it all, and being that open allows us to transcend mere mediocre ideologies.
The second sacred truth is “Show great respect to your fellow beings.”
With a planet with an ever-increasing population of eight billion plus, it is absolutely insane to believe that we all can be friends or just assume we all to like each other and hold hands.
We are all different, we all have different goals, even though we all may have similar fundamental needs. I would be very idealistic to assume that everybody on this planet is going to love me. It is just not truth, due that every single person in existence has different ideals and as we have observed, there are a lot of (Excuse me French) pissing contests happening globally. We all want to be loved and adored on a personal level. It is just one of the inner truths of human nature, we all like attention and approval.
Therefore, this second Indian truth is showing great respect to your fellow beings, not befriending every entity that walks this earth. For example, I can calmly walk through a shopping mall, purchase what I need and walk out with no fuss or headaches. In doing so, I respected my environment and those whom I shared the environment with. Are you catching what I am trying to articulate here? Respect is not the exultation of others; it is simply the allowance to co-exist.
The third Indian commandment is “Give assistance and kindness wherever needed.”
Let me share one of my own experiences. I had a job where I was a food demonstrator. To those who don’t know what a demonstrator is. Grocery stores have allot of consumer items.
Food companies try to take a foothold in the market share so they will hire a demonstration company, which would take on the task of introducing their food items to the everyday consumer.
In turn, a food demonstrator will provide food samples and try to bring awareness and sell these promoted items.
I sold various items from chocolates to alcohol. My first product sample was these delicious apple strudels. I had the bakery heat up these delicious apple pies and I would chop them up and offer them to the oncoming shoppers. I would use my tack to sell as many of these apple pies as I can in the provided allotted time. And sold many I did. I still remember some of the faces of these consumers, who didn’t want to buy these tasty delicious treats but yet they did.
Back to topic, from my experience of marketing food products, I was unconsciously at the same time creating a market census of the everyday consumer. To my subtle realization, the majority of these shoppers are very decent folk.
“The power to be. Not because we have to, but because we are humanly inclined to.”
There are many of us whom are kind and gentle and every now and then, we observe these random acts of kindness in public displays and even more in many other minute states.
Treating others how you want to be treated is one of the grander truths.
This blog will be continued in smaller portions.
“Remember, sometimes life can just surprise you, if you have the innocence of a child to see.”
Greetings
